Congratulations to the West Geauga Academic Decathlon team for their performance at the regional competition at Willoughby South High School.
The team’s 15 members won an astonishing total of 55 medals and finished first in their division. Senior Angela Volcensek was one of only four competitors chosen to present her prepared speech during the Speech Showcase portion of the awards ceremony.
The team is coached by West Geauga High School social studies teacher Ben Speros and is a way for our students to develop their professional presentation skills.
Lindsey Celebrates ACE Winners
Each quarter, teachers select West Geauga students to receive the ACE award for their attitude, character and effort. As a reward for their hard work, the students attended a special presentation complete with a certificate, pencil and special pin and the PTO helped the students to celebrate with donuts and juice.
Breakfast Program Launched
The students of the West Geauga School District are taking part in a brand new district-wide breakfast program to make sure they start of the day feeling satisfied and ready to work.
Organized by the professional Nutrition Services staff of West G, this program is open to all of the students at every building for a small or reduced fee.
Providing a nutritious breakfast is a great way to teach self-care, reduce sick days and trips to see school nurses.
