Band Gets Ready for the Season

The West Geauga Marching Band has been hard at work getting ready for the start of the season. Band camp started on Aug. 5. The members immediately started work on learning their first show, pregame and fundamental work to ensure a high level of performance during their Friday night performances.

The debut of the marching band this year was on Aug. 24 at West Geauga High School during the home opener against Chardon.

CVC Holds Live Interviews

On Aug. 14, the West Geauga Football team participated in the Chagrin Valley Conference Football Media Day. Sixteen teams with players and coaches met at Beachwood High School to spend time together before the official start of the season and be interviewed by the local media.

The media day featured live streaming interviews of the players and coaches for each team, which were posted on social media.

Five West Geauga football players attended the event, as well as head coach Adam Sopkovich.

WGHS Entrance Construction Underway

Construction is well underway to change the way that students and visitors use the main entrance of the high school. The changes will ensure that the staff is better able to direct students and visitors as they enter the building.

“These changes are critical to allowing our staff to be able to best safely assist our students and visitors as they enter the high school building,” said Sean Whelan, director of technology and operations. “We are excited to see the project completed soon.”

The changes include moving doorways to better direct the flow of students and visitors to the main office, the counseling side of the building or into the school itself. Glass doors and windows will allow for plenty of visibility for staff members.

“We are pleased about the way that this project has come together,” said Whelan. “It is nice to see the vision for the project that we presented to the board come into fruition.”
