WGMS Band Goes To Contest

On March 21, the West Geauga Middle School band had 22 students in the seventh- and eighth-grades participate in 16 events at the OMEA District VII Junior High Solo and Ensemble Contest. Solo and Ensemble contest allows students to perform either by themselves or with a small group of three to seven other students.

Every event is judged by an OMEA adjudicator, who scores the performance on a five-rating system, ranging from a rating of I – Superior to a rating of V – Very Poor.

The middle school band students performed throughout the day. There were 16 events in total – 13 solos and three ensembles. Fifteen of the events received a “I” – Superior and one group received a “II” – Excellent.

The students that participated have been preparing for months for this contest. The students had great performances and we would like to thank the support they had from their school and their parents.

Congratulations to all 22 students.
