Letters to Veterans

West Geauga High School student Jack Makee received a Summer of Creativity Grant from YSA, ABC Television and Disney Friends for Change to make positive change in the world.

Concerned that students lacked the understanding of the sacrifices that the veterans have made for us, Makee found a way to make it work.

Makee contacted his old basketball coach, Mr. Gordon Petronsky, who also is a fourth-grade teacher at Lindsey Elementary School and asked if he would participate in the project. Petronsky agreed and all the fourth-grade students wrote thank you letters to veterans.

“My goal is to send letters to all 50 states,” said Makee.

Donuts at Dawn

Students at Lindsey Elementary School enjoyed “Donuts at Dawn” with a loved one. The PTO sponsored the event, with the donuts donated by Patterson’s.
