Color Me West G
West Geauga High School Interact Club hosted the second annual Wolverun 5k Color Run on the grounds of West Geauga on March 22. Approximately 100 runners participated in the race. The Interact Club participates in many fundraising events throughout the year.
The Rotary Club of Chesterland, which is Interact Club’s sponsor, brought food and drinks for all the participants. All proceeds will be donated to the Polaris Project, an international organization dedicated to eradicating human trafficking and helping its victims, and to the PTO.
Westwood Ice Cream Social
The Westwood PTO hosted an ice cream social in honor of Principal Denise Brewster who is retiring at the end of the school year to spend more time with her family. A well-attended crowd of over 200 people came out to say their goodbyes and enjoy creating their own ice cream sundaes.
Westwood 4th-Grade Economics Fair
Westwood Elementary School held its seventh annual economics fair. The fair was created to give students an opportunity to simulate an entrepreneurial experience.
Students in the fourth-grade classes learn about capital, human and natural resources. They also learn what it is like to be a producer and the decision making process that goes along with it.
As part of their advertising campaign, the students compiled all their information into iPad presentations for their customers to view while selling their products. Many of the student’s products sold out to Westwood students before friends and family had a chance to purchase their items. Overall the event was very successful.
