Bodacious Beasts

Feb. 1, 7 p.m. • Virtual

Poker 101

Feb. 1, 7-8:30 p.m. • Thompson

An introductory poker lessons for beginners, learn basic rules and mechanics of the game.

Club Ink Writing Workshop  

Feb. 2, 6-8:30 p.m. • Chardon

Writers may join with creators of all genres who are interested in critiquing work while sharing experiences, information and ideas. Both aspiring authors and seasoned veterans are welcome.

Beginners Beekeeping Series

Wednesdays, 6:30-8:30 p.m. • Middlefield

Join Trish the Beekeeper.

Feb. 2: Get tips on getting the gear, learning the lingo and siting bees on one’s property.
Feb. 9: Learn about buying bees and installing them in the hive.
Feb. 16: Get tips on the first beekeeping weeks and how to manage the hive.

Cardboard Art

Feb. 3, 4 p.m. • Virtual

Youth in grades K-5 will turn recycled cardboard Covid test kit boxes into sculptural art. Pick up supplies at the Middlefield Library after registration.   

Teen Thursdays

Feb. 3, 3-4:30 p.m. • Bainbridge

Teens in grades 6-12 may drop in for after-school fun, activities and a snack with Mr. Eli. Registration is not required.

Teen and Tweens Night

Teens may join for games, trivia, movies and pizza the first and third Thursday night of every month.

Bigfoot Mushrooms

Feb. 3, 6 p.m. • Middlefield

Learn the basics of  mushroom  growing  along with  general mushroom facts.

Film Discussion Club

Feb. 3, 2-3 p.m. • Geauga West

Watch “Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day”  on one’s own and then join for a discussion. Place a hold online or call one’s local branch for assistance.  

Mobile Memory Lab Orientation

Feb. 3, 6:30 p.m. • Bainbridge

Use the Mobile Memory Lab to preserve memories. Attendance at an hour-long orientation is mandatory before booking appointments with the Mobile Memory Lab.

Chapters

Feb. 3, 4 p.m. • Bainbridge

Youth in grades 4-6 will read a fun middle grade novel. Meet with friends each week to eat a snack, talk about the book and play games related to the book.

Enrichment Activities for Dogs

Feb. 5, 2 p.m. • Bainbridge

Discover tips on how to make the eating experience interesting with simple objects that are laying around the house. Get started making a snuffle mat for one’s pet. Bring 1 to 1 1/2 yards of fleece fabric to make the mat.

Get to  Know Libby

Learn the ins and outs of navigating the  Libby  app  to borrow and enjoy  e-books and audiobooks  on one’s device.

4th and 5th Grade Book Club

Pick up a copy of each month’s book at the information desk.  Then, come to the library to eat pizza and discuss the book.

Wildlife in Winter

Feb. 8, 6 p.m. • Thompson

Geauga Soil and Water Conservation District will discuss how native Ohio critters survive in winter. All ages.

Mystery Book Discussion

Join for a tour of mysteries from all over the world while discussing

“Murder at the Vicarage” by Agatha Christie.

Avoid a Medicaid Spend Down

Feb. 8, 2 p.m. • Geauga West

Discover how to efficiently pass on your assets to your children or heirs through probate avoidance and asset protection strategies.  Learn how to protect assets and avoid a nursing home spend down through trusts and other asset protection tools.

Teen Dating Violence

Feb. 8, 6 p.m. • Geauga West

WomenSafe will raise awareness about teen dating violence. The presentation will focus on advocacy and education to stop dating abuse before it starts.

Preschool Expo

Feb. 8, 6-8 p.m. • Bainbridge

Parents are invited to talk with several local preschools. Representatives will answer questions and provide information. Children’s area and activities will be available.
