Teen and Tweens Night

Youth in grades 5-12 take over the library.

Teen Tech Tutoring Session

June 16, 23 and 30, 2-4 p.m. • Geauga West

Community teens will be available to help with basic smartphone applications, downloading books to devices, basic email set-up and internet searching on computers and computer databases.

Third Thursday Business Social

Chester, Russell and Newbury area businesses join for a business networking opportunity the third Thursday of each month.

Death Café

June 16, 6-8 p.m. • Chardon

Gather to have refreshments and discuss death. The objective is “to increase awareness of death with a view to helping people make the most of their lives.” Facilitated by Alexa Oehlers, licensed funeral director and embalmer at Burr Funeral Home, it is not a grief support or counseling session.

During “Poetic Travel to a Sensational and Scandalous 1881 Incident in Ohio,” learn about Carl and Mary Bach who were German Ohio farming immigrants, the local 1881-83 news and the sensational event of 1883. Award-winning poet and WG alumna Suzanne Ondrus will present her forthcoming poetry book, “Death of an Unvirtuous Woman.”

You are the Solution to Plastic Pollution

An estimated 10,000 tons of plastic pollution enter the Great Lakes each year, resulting in significant global impacts to human and environmental health. Join Jill Bartolotta, extension educator for the Ohio Sea Grant, to learn about the concerns that arise when plastics enter the water and human bodies.
