Geauga Beef and Swine
The Geauga Beef and Swine 4-H Club met April 16 in the School Building at the Fairgrounds. There were 27 members present at the meeting.
Members are now picking out swine, lamb and goat projects and soon will be tagging them for fair. During the meeting, they learned about basic first aid. The Junior Fair theme this year is “Tropical Nights Under Grandstand Lights.”
Members presented projects about swine structure and external beef parasites. Ben Joles presented about the opportunities of attending 4-H Camp in June. Soon, Geauga County 4-H clubs will be selling candy bars as a fundraiser.
The beef, swine, goat and lamb kids went over the retail and wholesale cuts of their species. Beef went over teaching a calf to set up and swine went over tips for whip training. Poultry learned about the by-products of chickens. (Submitted by Kaiden Wolcott, 13, news reporter)
