Breeders and Feeders 4-H Club had meetings on March 26 and April 23 at Munson Town Hall. The club has been focusing on local community service and building friendships within the club. The individual species meetings are preparing members for the Geauga County Fair over Labor Day weekend.
Members of the club participated in the pancake breakfasts at Sirna’s in Auburn. They also collected items for Geauga Mama Dogs and Pups Rescue at our March and April meetings. At the April meeting, members completed no-sew blankets that will be handed out at fair. They had to cut material and tie the pieces together to make the blankets.
On May 13, there will be a new 4-H community service project, “Sleep in Heavenly Peace.” During the event, the goal is to build 40 beds for children in need in Geauga County. Preregistration is required, so anyone interested in donating or helping may visit shpbeds.org to learn more.
The recreation officer has been busy planning fun events and games for each meeting. After the March meeting, members went to the skating rink in Chagrin Falls. At the April meeting, they played a fun version of “Would You Rather.”
Club members also discussed future fund raising. The club will be selling candy bars from Buckeye Chocolates. They will be $1 each and in various flavors. Watch for club members in the coming months as they are in the community asking for support.
Species meetings are preparing members for the fair this fall. They are reviewing information for project judging and how best to care and work with their animals to get them ready for fair. The health and safety officers made a first aid kit to have at fair in case someone is hurt.
The next meeting will still be at Munson Town Hall, but moved to May 21 in the morning. (Submitted by Thomas Kartley, news reporter)
