Happy New Year from the Breeders and Feeders 4-H Club...
Breeders and Feeders
Happy New Year from the Breeders and Feeders 4-H Club. It is time to start thinking about the upcoming year and activities for youth in the summer and fall. It is enrollment time for the Geauga County 4-H program and the club thinks all youth between the ages of 8 and 18 should join in on the fun. Four-H is the largest youth development organization in America, empowering nearly six million young people. The 4-H program was founded right here in Ohio back in 1902 in Clark County.
Breeders and Feeders is one of the largest 4-H clubs in Geauga County and it wants to help raise awareness of the Ohio 4-H program. Much like how 4-H encourages members to build lifelong skills, this club wants to build and grow the Geauga County 4-H program. Breeders and Feeders is a community of young people who are learning leadership, citizenship and life skills developing them to be future leaders in and around the community.
All youth between the ages of 5-18 are invited to be a part of the program. The Cloverbud program is for ages 5-7 and traditional 4-H programming is for youth ages 9-18. Adults are always welcome to become volunteer leaders and advisors. There are over 200 different projects to explore from sewing, woodworking, and livestock to science and engineering.
To learn more about how to be a part of the Ohio 4-H program, contact the local Ohio State University Extension Office in Geauga County at 440-834-4656. The deadline to enroll in the 2024 programming activities is April 15. (Submitted by Campbell Reese Patterson, news reporter)
