The Health District Advisory Council is set to make its selection at its March 11 meeting.
Seona Goerndt
The president and CEO of Recovery Resources at Cleveland MetroHealth Medical Center, Seona Goerndt’s professional history lies in healthcare administration, according to her resume. She holds degrees in human resource development from Notre Dame College of Ohio and business administration from Cleveland State University, as well as certifications in strategic perspectives in nonprofit management from Harvard Business School and patient experience from the Beryl Institute.
Goerndt has worked to integrate RR into the MetroHealth system and has experience collaborating between the two organizations. Her resume shows experience within the MetroHealth system as the Office of Patient Experience director, where she oversaw the department’s administration and operations. She also served as executive director of HealthSpan Integrated Care, where she worked with other executives to shut down and consolidate sites.
“Public health touches every resident — from ensuring safe water and food systems to supporting families, protecting vulnerable populations and preparing for emerging health challenges,” Goerndt said in her letter of intent. “Effective board leadership requires thoughtful governance, responsible stewardship of public resources and meaningful engagement with the community.”
Goerndt said she has learned through her career that sustainable success relies on listening to those an organization serves, building trust with stakeholders and aligning decisions with community impact. She believes public health leadership requires a balance of fiscal responsibility, compassion, education, oversight and partnership.
“It would be an honor to contribute my experience and perspective to the continued advancement of public health in Geauga County,” she said.
Daniel Green
A firefighter-paramedic, fire investigator and hazmat technician, Daniel Green said in his resume he aims to apply his expertise in investigative procedures and emergency response operations to the role.
Green has worked for the Painesville Township Fire Department since 2017 and the Chester Township Fire Department since 2022. In those roles, he conducts fire investigations, responds to fires, medical incidents and hazardous material incidents, provides emergency medical care and educates the public on topics such as fire prevention, among other duties, according to his resume.
He expects to earn a degree in fire science from Columbia Southern University in summer 2026 and holds a variety of certifications in fire prevention, fire safety and advanced life support, his resume said.
“In addition to my professional background, I am actively involved in my community and understand the importance of long-term planning, accountability and collaboration when addressing public health needs,” Green said in his letter of intent. “I value thoughtful discussion, transparency and data-driven decision making and I believe these principles align closely with the mission and responsibilities of the Geauga County Board of Health.”
Lewis Tomsic
Lewis Tomsic, chair of the Newbury Township Board of Zoning Appeals, holds a degree in engineering and industrial technology from Ohio University. He was the vice president of Auburn Bainbridge Excavating until 2024 and has experience managing and operating the septic pumping aspects of the company, according to his resume.
Tomsic holds a number of professional memberships, including the Ohio Onsite Wastewater Association, National Onsite Wastewater Recycling Association and National Association of Wastewater Transporters.
He also has accreditations or licenses from the National Vacuum Truck Technician and Certification Program, Onsite Wastewater Treatment Design School and Ohio State University Mound Design School, according to his resume.
“I enjoy being outside and working with my hands,” Tomsic said in his resume. “When time allows, I enjoy car shows, hunting, fishing and any activity that keeps me active and outdoors.”
