Ashley Jones was honored with a resolution at her final Feb. 18 meeting as a member of the Geauga County Board of Health, with board members and staff recognizing her years of service.

Jones was appointed to the board in 2021 and is now concluding her five-year term in 2026. During that time, she served residents throughout Geauga County, Geauga Public Health Administrator Adam Litke read from the resolution.

“Ashley Jones served with distinction, earning the profound respect and trust of her fellow board members and the health district staff,” he said. “Ashley Jones’ leadership and vision were instrumental during multiple public health crises, providing steady guidance on issues vital to the health and safety of the county.”

Jones described her time on the board as “an absolute pleasure.”

“I think the one thing I will say is, we are definitely not where we started in 2021,” she said. “Thank you guys so much, you have turned this place around entirely and I don’t think I would have made it five years without you guys.”

Litke presented Jones with the resolution along with a plastic costume necklace he referred to as “the chain of excellence.”

As the board completed other paperwork, Litke read a second, humorous resolution thanking Jones for her service “on a journey that would test the limits of human patience and caffeine consumption.” The resolution noted she remained steadfast during challenging times while also juggling her board duties with caring for a newborn baby.

“Despite the chaos, noise and lack of sleep, Ashley Jones provided steady guidance and common sense to the Geauga Public Health when we needed it most,” Litke read. “Now, therefore be it resolved that the members of the board of health, the overworked staff and the mostly grateful community wish to say thank you to Ashley Jones for dedicated service, her resilience and finally earning a well-deserved nap.”

Jones said she plans to hang both resolutions on the wall of her office.

The Geauga Health District Advisory Council will appoint a new board member at its March 11 meeting.
