Michelle Doehring Honored
Michelle Doehring, executive director of NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) Geauga County, was recently honored by the Geauga County Board of Mental Health and Recovery Services as Mental Health Professional of the Year. After serving as the executive director of the Mental Health Association since 2006, Michelle stepped down from that office in September 2013 to devote her efforts as the executive director of NAMI Geauga County.
NAMI offers education, support and advocacy to those affected by mental illness and their families and holds monthly meetings at the Geauga County Board of Mental Health and Recovery Services, 13244 Ravenna Road, Munson.

Chapman Award
The Geauga County Library Foundation is accepting nominations through July 15 for its prestigious Chapman Award, which is awarded annually to an individual or group whose efforts have promoted books and the enjoyment of reading. The award will be presented at the foundation’s annual ceremony in October.

Relay for Life at NDCL
The American Cancer Society will hold its annual Relay for Life June 22-23, rain or shine, at Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin, 13000 Auburn Road, Munson. There will be survivor activities, a survivor dinner by Danny Boy’s in Chesterland, a Miss Relay contest and the beautiful ceremony and lighting of the luminarias honoring those affected by cancer at 9:30 p.m. June 22.

Preschool Registration at NDCL

Document Destruction

At the Senior Center
A senior art show will be on display during the month of July at the Chardon Senior Center, 12555 Ravenwood Drive, Munson. The show is open to artists and crafters with a limit of two to three pieces since space for display is limited. Call 440-279-2130 to participate.
Dan and Bobbi Ritz present “Name That Tune” at 12:45 p.m. June 26 for a stroll down memory lane with favorite songs from days gone by. Registration is not necessary.
Reservations are due no later than July 18 for the safety program being held July 30, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Chardon Senior Center featuring Geauga County Sheriff Dan McClelland and the police chiefs from local Geauga County townships. Learn about self-protection from scams, identity theft, credit card fraud, and personal and home safety.

Reminder
Munson Park & Recreation Board presents the Joey Tomsic Orchestra, voted 2012 Polka Band of the Year, in concert June 22, from 6-8 p.m., at the Scenic River Retreat on Mayfield Road, just east of Fowlers Mill Road in Munson. The event is free and open to all.
