Thank You, Mr. “T”

Thank you, Jim Teichman (“Mr. T”), Munson Road superintendent, for recently requesting the trustees to allow funds to replace broken and unreadable cemetery head stones for veterans interred in Maple Hill Cemetery and Fowler’s Mill Cemetery. He hopes to have at least 10 markers restored each year.

Call the trustees and let them know that it would be a show of benevolence to have them all restored in both cemeteries before the next Memorial Day tribute by the township.

With the Arts

The Geauga Council for Arts & Culture (GCAC), through its Art in the Mart program, features the work of Karen Hopwood at the Geauga Family YMCA, 12460 Bass Lake Road in Munson. The exhibit is on view during regular “Y” hours and will remain through September. Proceeds from the sale of items on display benefit the artist, the “Y” and the GCAC.

At the Senior Center

The Low Vision Support Group will hold its annual potluck picnic at 10 a.m. Sept. 9 at the Chardon Senior Center’s pavilion, 12555 Ravenwood Drive in Munson.

In addition, at 12:30 p.m. Sept. 9 at the senior center, Beth and Sandy from the Board of Mental Health and Recovery Services will discuss the side effects of alcohol and prescription drugs.

Food Addicts in Recovery

The next meeting of Food Addicts in Recovery (FAIR) will be held at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 11 at St. Luke Episcopal Church, 11519 Wilson Mills Road in Munson. The weekly meetings offer support, nutrition information and encouragement to those who are making an effort to lose weight and remain healthy.

Munson Twp. Flea Market

The Munson Flea Market will take place Sept. 14, rain or shine, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Munson Park on Bass Lake Road. There will be something for everyone, including antiques, garage sale items and crafts.

The event is free and suitable for all ages. Proceeds benefit the Munson Park & Recreation Board’s events throughout the year.

Chicken Barbecue, Boutique

The Sisters of Notre Dame will host their 2013 chicken barbecue and boutique Sept. 22 and 29, rain or shine, from noon to 5 p.m. at the Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin campus, 13000 Auburn Road in Munson. There will be a boutique, country store, children’s games and raffles.

Tickets, at the door only, are $12 for chicken and $15 for ribs. Takeouts will be available.

WomenSafe Fall Luncheon

Reservations are being accepted for the WomenSafe 2013 fall luncheon to be held Sept. 29, from noon to 3:30 p.m., at the Pine Ridge Country Club, 30605 Ridge Road in Wickliffe. The Western Reserve Historical Society Speakers Bureau will narrate “The Golden Age of Shopping in Cleveland.”

There will be a Chinese auction and a brunch catered by Dinos. Tickets are $38 each. Valet parking will be provided.
