In Sympathy
Deepest sympathy goes to family and friends of Louise Alexander who passed away Jan. 26 at the age of 82 years. Louise and her late husband, R. Reece Alexander, a champion golfer, built Legend Lake Golf Course in Munson, which they opened in 1968. They derived the name from a lake on the property which was filled in to prevent it from being an attractive nuisance to children, thus the lake became a legend.
Louise was an avid sportswoman, who enjoyed golf and horses, and in addition to raising five children, served on several boards in Geauga County. She was honored as a Munson Notable May 22, 2007. She will be missed by all who knew her.
A Big Thank You
John Kaczynski recently resigned from the Munson Park and Recreation Board. He has served voluntarily since 2005 and was instrumental in coordinating Munson Township’s annual Community Day, working on various park improvements and maintenance projects and helping wherever he could.
Thank you, John, for all you have done with the board and for the township. Best wishes for a happy retirement.

In Tribute
One of our greatest presidents, Abraham Lincoln, was born on Feb. 12,1809, in a log cabin in Kentucky. An avid reader, often by firelight, he studied law on his own. He pursued a career in politics for several years before being elected president of the United States in 1860.
His efforts to abolish slavery and his courage led the country through a long, deadly, destructive war, which ended April 9, 1865. Unfortunately, five days after that, at the age of 56, he was assassinated by the fanatic, John Wilkes Booth.
Fly our beautiful flag in honor of President Lincoln on Feb. 12.
