Volunteers Needed
Friends of WomenSafe, Inc., an all volunteer, non-profit organization, is actively seeking new friends to help plan and execute fundraisers. In its six years of existence, the organization has raised $217,000 for WomenSafe. Proceeds from fundraisers support the accommodations and services offered to victims of domestic violence at The Green House on Ravenna Road in Munson.

Munson Mud Hens Baseball
The Munson Mud Hens traveling baseball team continued their run of successful wins last week, finishing second place in the 2013 Aurora Baseball Tournament. The Mud Hens will play the Kenston Bombers Blue in Richmond Heights for the league title.

At the Rookery
The Geauga Park District will hold a “Hound Hike” July 15 from 6:30-8 p.m. at the Rookery, 10110 Cedar Road in Munson. One leashed dog per handler allowed. This will be a guided stroll, weather permitting.

At the Senior Center
Seniors who have a European background and would like to learn more about that are welcome to join the following at their monthly meetings at the Chardon Senior Center, 12555 Ravenwood Drive, Munson:
The Polish Group will meet at 1 p.m. July 17; the Czech Club will meet at 1 p.m. Aug. 1.; and the Slovenian Group will meet at 10 a.m. Aug. 7 for a picnic lunch in the pavilion. For more information, call 440-279-2131.
With the Arts
A reception will be held to meet artist Mark Common and view his beautiful nature inspired paintings on July 19, from 7-9 p.m., at the Geauga Park District’s Meyer Center, Big Creek Park, 9160 Robinson Road in Chardon Township. The event is free and open to the public. Refreshments served. The exhibit continues through October.
E-Waste Collection
The Geauga-Trumbull Solid Waste Management District will have an E-Waste Collection July 20, rain or shine, from 9 a.m. to noon, at the Geauga County Engineer’s Yard, 12665 Merritt Road, Munson. For information on what is acceptable, visit www.startrecycling.com or call 1-800-707-2673.
Bible School for Senior Citizens
The Chardon Ministerial Association and Northern Mission Area Council present the first annual Vacation Bible School for Senior Citizens July 23-26 from 9:30 a.m. to noon at St. Luke Episcopal Church, 11519 Wilson Mills Road in Munson.

A Prom to Remember Benefit
Registrations are being accepted for a benefit golf outing for A Prom to Remember at 11:30 a.m. Sept. 9 at Legend Lake Golf Course, 11135 Auburn Road in Munson.
Cost is $100 per person, which includes 18 holes of golf with cart, lunch, dinner, awards and prizes. Golfers will be grouped in foursomes.
All net proceeds from the golf outing will support the 2014 Prom To Remember, which is a special event held annually in April for teenagers afflicted with cancer. They are provided with tuxes, dresses and accessories and escorted to the event in a “limo” where they enjoy dinner, dancing, entertainment and photos.
