Historic Tidbit
Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day is Dec. 7. In 1941, on that Sunday, the United States lost 2,400 service personnel and 1,178 lay wounded in a sneak attack by the Japanese on Pearl Harbor, Hawaii and the Philippines. The next day, Congress declared war on Japan and Germany and President Franklin D. Roosevelt declared it “a date which will live in infamy.”
Fly the beautiful United States flag at half-staff until sunset on Dec. 7 in tribute to all who have given and continue to give their lives in defense of our great country.
