Munson Elementary Birthday

Munson Elementary School will celebrate its 60th birthday in 2015. The school’s alumni are needed to assist the committee in locating memorabilia, including class photos, newsletters and newspaper articles.

At The Senior Center

For those who have made a resolution to begin an exercise program, the Chardon Senior Center, 12555 Ravenwood Drive, Munson, offers strength training at 11 a.m. Mondays and Wednesdays and yoga on Fridays at 10:30 a.m. Call 440-279-2130 for details and registration.

Drivers are available to escort seniors to and from medical appointments in and out of Geauga County, Monday through Friday. For more information and required registration, call 440-279-2134.

Celebrate Recovery

The next meeting of the Christian 12-Step Addictions Recovery Program will be held at 7 p.m. Jan. 7 at Morning Star Friends Church, 12550 Ravenna Road, Munson. The weekly meetings are free and open to all seeking to stop an addiction.

The program offers support, advice and encouragement. Fellowship and a meal is served at 6:15 p.m.

NAMI Peer Support Group

The Geauga County National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) will hold a peer support group meeting at 7 p.m. Jan. 8 at the Geauga County Board of Mental Health, 13244 Ravenna Road, Munson. The monthly meetings are free and open to all affected by mental illness and their families.

Geauga County NAMI provides education, support and advocacy. Registration is not necessary.

Shutterbugs Camera Club

The Shutterbugs Camera Club will meet at 7 p.m. Jan. 8 at the Geauga Park Distrist’s West Woods. The monthly meetings are free and open to all ages and skill levels of photography artists.

Monthly assignments are voluntary and friendly critiques are offered at the meetings.

Mapletown Squares

The Mapletown Squares will hold its next square and round dance Jan. 9, from 8-10:30 p.m., at the Chardon Senior Center, 12555 Ravenna Road, Munson. Callers will be John Ramsey and Charlie Brown. Beginners are welcome.

Reminder

Applications for Munson Township Scholarships must be received at the township hall, 12210 Auburn Road, no later than 3 p.m. Jan. 9. Munson is offering a minimum of two $500 scholarships to senior high school Munson residents graduating in June 2015.

Applications are available at all area high schools, the township hall and online at www.munsontwp.com For more information, call the township office at 440-286-9255.

The scholarships are funded by proceeds from Munson’s annual community day and private donations.
