Trustees meetings are held on the first and third Tuesdays of each month at 7 p.m. at the town hall.

All township meetings are open to the public and residents are encouraged to attend. Call 440-636-5486 for more information. The next meeting is Nov. 3.

Trick Or Treat

Trick or treat night for Huntsburg Township is Oct. 31 from 5-7 p.m. Residents wishing to have their homes visited are asked to leave a porch or outside light on. Children are asked to stop only at homes with lights on.

Children are welcome to attend the costume contest hosted by the Middlefield Volunteer Fire Department at the Middlefield Fire Station at 7 p.m.

A safe alternative for children is being offered by the Huntsburg Historical Society, Huntsburg Congre-gational Church and Huntsburg Grange called “Trunk or Treat” for Huntsburg residents with children school age or younger to be held on Oct. 31 from 56:30 p.m. in the parking lot behind the Huntsburg Community Center.

Parents of trick-or-treaters, please park in the bandstand park and follow the signs to safely walk the children to Trunk or Treat. The community center parking lot will be closed to traffic.

The sponsors of the Trunk or Treat event park their cars side by side and open their trunks to reveal Halloween-themed decorations. Children can walk from trunk to trunk to look at the decorations and receive candy and treats. he event provides a controlled and safe family environment for trick-or-treaters of all ages. No scary themes or homemade treats, please.

Fire Department

The Middlefield Volunteer Fire Department would like to remind Huntsburg residents that it has smoke and carbon monoxide detectors available at no charge. The department will also install the detectors for residents.

The free program is available through a grant the fire department received. For more information, call the non-emergency number 440-632-1907.

Recycle

Bring all unwanted catalogs, phone books, newspapers, school and office papers, magazines, paperback books and junk mail to the recycle bin at Huntsburg Recreation Park. Cardboard is now accepted.

Do not leave unwanted items that are not recyclable at the park-recycling site.

Daylight-Saving Time

When do we change the clocks?

Most of the United States begins daylight-saving time at 2 a.m. on the second Sunday in March and then reverts to standard time on the first Sunday in November. It will be time to fall back on Nov. 1 at 2 a.m.

The fire department reminds residents to change the batteries in all smoke detectors at this time.

Pumpkin Festival News

The 2015 Pumpkin Queen is Michelle Michael and Junior Pumpkin Queen is Kaitlyn Starr.

Thomas Kartley was crowned Tot King and LilyAnn Akos, Tot Queen.

Giant Pumpkin first place winner is Jerry Rose III, age 12, with a pumpkin weighing 1,349 pounds. He is following in his dad’s footsteps.
