Newbury High School students Josh Fingerhut, Carly Richards, Sarah Stefancin, Annie Kinkopf, Melissa Cheek, Trevor Conklin have been selected to participate in this year’s OMEA District VII Honors Choir. These students are six of the 140 selected to participate from surrounding Cleveland schools this year.
Honors Choir is a rigorous two-day event held Nov. 13 and 14. Students arrive at Cleveland State University on Friday morning, spending the day rehearsing with professors and educators, and watching performances by university ensembles. Students then return Saturday for a dress rehearsal of the previous day’s repertoire and a final concert.
The concert will be held in Waetjen Auditorium at 4 p.m., conducted by Dr. Sandra Snow, renowned professor of choral conducting and music education at Michigan State University College of Music. The concert is free and open to the public.
