Hello from Geauga County, Amish Country,
It was a beautiful morning on Nov. 2. It’s this our Indian summer? After our squaw winter? I wonder where that originated from; I guess I’ll have to brush up on my history.
With the predicted nice weather for the week, we should be able to get our fall work done. The past few weeks have been busy with weddings and company.
The wedding of Sadie, daughter of Marvin and Susan Miller, and William, son of Jacob and Emma Detweiler, was Nov. 3. We had visitors from Cashton, Wis. A niece and husband, a nephew and wife and three married sons and their wives attended. They made a call here after the wedding and then left for Cleveland to catch the train later that evening.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Ervin and Martha Miller Jr. We heard he has been quite sick in the hospital. Also, Levi S. Yoder hasn’t been feeling well.
The benefit pancake breakfast for Locust Grove School the morning of Oct. 30 held at Joe’s Window Shop went very well. We didn’t have quite the crowd as sometimes, but still a pretty good turnout. Thanks to all who came.
Joe and I enjoyed the evening of Nov. 2 at son Mark’s. We had delicious grilled steak. Joining us later on were Crist and Lori and family.
Did you all remember to turn your clocks back Saturday night? It’s always more fun to turn them back then to turn them ahead. But, there’s still 24 hours in a day.
After I finish here, I need to bake a cake and then go out and rake some leaves. The wind blew a lot of them into the pasture and that helped some.
We will have a blood drive here on Nov. 7, so mark your calendars.
Also, Nov. 14 is the annual craft show here at Joe’s Window Shop. Hours are 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. There are over 30 different vendors signed up. Come and do your Christmas shopping early.
News you might have missed:
An 82-year-old Florida man was charged with slashing the tires on an 88-year-old woman’s car because she took his favorite seat at a weekly bingo game. (How’s that for setting a good example?)
So much rain fell on flood-ravaged Texas this May that it could cover the entire state with eight inches of water.
Chuckles
The Tracks: Three blonds were walking through the forest when they came upon a set of tracks.
The first one said, “Those are deer tracks.”
The second one said, “No, those are elk tracks.”
The third blond said, “You’re both wrong. Those are moose tracks.”
The blonds were still arguing when the train hit them.
You all enjoy the beautiful weather.
