Mayfield United Methodist Stars, the special needs ministry of the church, is hosting the seventh annual Winter Ball at Mayfield United Methodist Church, 7747 Mayfield Road, Chester Township. The event features the Tyrone’s Blues Band.
All are invited. Cost is $5 per person includes picture, pizza, snacks, beverage and live band. No one will be turned away for lack of funds.

Connecting Neighbors Training
Feb. 4, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Connecting Neighbors encourages churches to explore their capacity for various disaster response ministries and to consider ways to engage community partners. The course provides information and material to help local churches, their members and the community to prepare for local disasters. It is offered on behalf of the United Methodist Church in conjunction with its “Disaster Ready Congregations” curriculum and its Disaster Ministry programs.
Chardon United Methodist Church is preparing to serve as a local disaster shelter for Chardon and with the Red Cross Disaster Shelter Program. The course is a starting point for training personnel to help with the shelter in the event of a disaster.
Training will take place at Chardon UMC, 515 North St. and is open to all. Lunch will be provided. The program is free.
