The Chardon Square Association’s Family Market is held on Chardon Square. The community-based marketplace provides fresh, locally sourced products in a family-friendly atmosphere, connecting the community with local farmers and artisans.

Lamp and Print Sale

Aug. 22 and 23

A lamp and picture print sale will be held in St. Mary’s Banquet Room in Chardon, with proceeds benefiting ministries at St. Mary’s and St. Patrick’s parishes.

The sale will be open Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon and 5:30-6:30 p.m., and Sunday from 9-10 a.m., 11 a.m. to noon and 1-2 p.m. Items will be available for a suggested donation.

Pinnacle in Motion

Aug. 23, 6 p.m.

Pinnacle in Motion will kick off its running and walking program at the Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin track in Chardon. Runners and walkers of all ages and abilities are welcome to participate in the community-focused program.

Car, Truck and Tractor Show

Aug. 29, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The ninth annual Newbury Township Car, Truck & Tractor Show will be held at Oberland Park, 14639 Auburn Road. Admission and show vehicle registration are free.

All years and makes are welcome, including antique, classic, muscle, sports and tuner cars, trucks, tractors and semitrucks. The event will feature awards, music, trivia, food and raffles. Show vehicle registration runs from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

A free concert featuring Pet the Cougar, a Petty/Mellencamp tribute band, will follow at 7 p.m., with a food truck available.

Overdose Awareness Day

Aug. 31, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The Geauga County Board of Mental Health and Recovery Services will host an Overdose Awareness Day event at 13244 Ravenna Road, Chardon. The event will offer free resources on overdose prevention, recovery support and crisis services, along with medication safety supplies and naloxone (Narcan) kits and demonstrations.

Tree Planting Ceremony

Aug. 31, 10 a.m. to noon

Lake-Geauga Recovery Centers will host “Rooted in Remembrance,” a community tree-planting ceremony in observance of International Overdose Awareness Day at Ignatia House, 400 North St., Chardon.

The event will honor those lost to overdose while offering support to families and others affected by loss. The ceremony will include a tree planting and a moment of reflection.

The free event is open to the community. Food, beverages and giveaways will be provided.

Meet Us in the Garden

Sept. 5, 10 a.m.

The OSU Lake County Master Gardener Volunteers will continue its Meet Us in the Garden talk at the Mentor Public Library, 8215 Mentor Ave.

The topic is “All About Alliums,” covering the different alliums, what is needed to propagate them, when to harvest and how to cure them for storage.

LCRTA Luncheon

Sept. 14, 11 a.m.

The Lake County Retired Teachers Association will meet at Mama Roberto’s, 8658 Mentor Ave., Mentor. Social time will be followed by the program at 11:30 a.m. and buffet lunch.

The meeting will feature brief presentations by candidates on the upcoming ballot, followed by a member vote on a proposed revision to the organization’s constitution.

Members are asked to bring donations for Birthright.

Last Fly-In of Summer

Sept. 19, 7-11 a.m.

EAA Chapter 5 pilots will serve a pancake breakfast at Geauga County Airport, 15421 Old State Road, Middlefield.

Breakfast includes all-you-can-eat pancakes, scrambled eggs, bacon or sausage, coffee and drinks. Cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children ages 3-12; children under 3 are free.

Free Young Eagles airplane rides for ages 8-17, with parental permission, and hands-on youth activities also will be offered.
