Total Lunar Eclipse

Nov. 8, 4-7 a.m.

Join for some guidance to watch Earth’s shadow darken the moon during this early-morning eclipse at the park district’s viewing event at Observatory Park. Drop in any time, but the most dramatic part of the eclipse will take place between 4-5:15 a.m.

Multiple telescopes will be pointed at the moon. Cell phone cameras will also come in handy at the “snapshot station” telescope, where visitors will be able to take their own up-close photos of the moon for easy sharing. No registration is required.

White House Holidays

Nov. 9, 6:30-8:30 p.m.

Celebrate the season with accomplished floral designer Bill Hixson, longtime White House decorator, during a holiday open house at The West Woods Nature Center.

His annual demonstration and presentation in the park also allows the public to enjoy his take on the folklore and tradition associated with holiday ornaments. Some of his creations may be available for sale and signing. Light refreshments will also be served. Registration is required.
