Wildlife Egg-stravaganza

April 3, 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Go on an indoor/outdoor adventure to explore local wildlife and the eggs they lay with a unique nature egg hunt and other fun activities at the West Woods Nature Center. All participants will be awarded fun prizes upon completion. Drop in anytime during program hours. Registration is required.

Inclusive Experiences

The park district will offer special programs for adults in the developmental disability community this spring.

Inclusive Experience: Signs of the Season Exploration” will take place April 9 from 10:30-11:30 a.m. at Claridon Woodlands, where Naturalist “Nora the Explorer”will guide participants and caregivers through meadow, forest and wetland habitats to explore spring sights and sounds.

“Inclusive Experience: For the Birds” is scheduled for June 3 from 10:30-11:30 a.m. at The West Woods Nature Center, featuring indoor and outdoor bird exploration, along with a visit to the “On the Wing…Nature That Takes Flight” community art show.

Registration is required for all participants, including caregivers.

Programs For Young Explorers

The park district will offer a variety of spring programs for children and families, with openings still available for many activities.

Programs for younger children include Timbertots: Animal Babies on April 19 at The Rookery and Timbertots: Wonderful Wings on May 30 at The West Woods Nature Center. Toddler Time: Sensing the Spring on May 27 will be held at Beartown Lakes Reservation and Astrotots: Good Night Satellite on May 15 and 16 will take place at Observatory Park.

Family programs include Orienteering Adventure for Families on May 28 at Chickagami Park and Searching for Snakes on June 6 at The Rookery. Additional activities include Nature Craft: Solar Prints on June 7, Basic Learn to Canoe on June 14 at Bass Lake Preserve and Polliwog Paddle Family Canoe on June 28 at Eldon Russell Park.

Registration is open. Additional programs, including scouting opportunities and summer camps, also are available.

Families also are invited to attend Touch-a-Truck on April 25 at The West Woods to explore park equipment and vehicles.
