This Saturday come watch Jeff Meyers of Elegant Ice Creations and other local carvers showing off their skills during ice-carving demonstrations and speed-carving competitions at the annual Ice Festival at Lake Metroparks Farmpark.

Sponsored by Ganley Subaru East, the festival runs from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Jan. 29.

In addition to ice-carving demonstrations scheduled throughout the day, local woodcarver Shari Staiduhar will clash against world champion ice carver Jeff Meyer in a Wood vs. Ice Carving competition.

Evening festivities will conclude with a battle between fire and ice, with a large fire lit inside a six-foot tower of ice.

Picture yourself sitting on a giant ice throne, sliding down a slide made of ice. Stroll through the beautifully lit courtyard, take in the beauty of the ice sculptures and warm yourself up at the fire pits.

Visitors will also enjoy other winter-themed activities and Farmpark’s daily activities.

Hot cocoa and s’mores will be available for an additional fee and food vendors will be onsite.

Regular Farmpark admission ($6-8) applies. Farmpark members, children under 2 and active military and their families get in free.

Farmpark is located at 8800 Euclid Chardon Road in Kirtland.
