Historic Tidbit
Veterans Day became a legal holiday in 1954 when President Eisenhower signed legislation to change that date’s name from Armistice Day, which honored the date the World War I Armistice was signed. Americans now honor all veterans who have served during World War I, World War II, Korean War, Vietnam War and the Gulf War. They continue to honor those who have served and are serving in the Middle East.
Fly the U.S. flag on Nov. 11 in tribute to those who have given and continue to give to keep the country safe.
