Organization Meetings

Congratulations

Munsonite Natalie M. Romano, daughter of Mr. And Mrs. Michael Romano, has been accepted into the Pharmacy 0-6 Program at the University of Findlay College of Pharmacy. Natalie is a 2013 graduate of Chardon High School. She received a Choose Ohio First STEMM Grant and the University of Findlay Presidential Scholarship.

Renee Petro and Annette Phillips are resigning their respective positions at WomenSafe, Inc. Both Renee and Annette have been long-time dedicated employees at WomenSafe’s Green House. The ladies are joining in an exciting business venture (to be announced) and they are certainly wished the very best in their new endeavor.

Western Reserve Checkerboard Days

Western Reserve Farm Cooperative invites everyone to celebrate “Checkerboard Days” July 18-20 during regular store hours at 12285 Ravenna Road in Munson. On July 20, there will be refreshments, Back to Basics dog training from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Purina animal nutritionist, from 1-3 p.m., Geauga County Dog Warden with adoptable dogs and Kathy Deptola Cat Rescue with adoptable cats, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

There will also be drawings for a 2013 John Deere XUV 550 and other prizes. For further information, call 440-285-3143.

Deepest Sympathy

Heartfelt sympathy to family and friends of Robert J. (Bob) Marn of Munson Township. Bob was a community minded, dedicated volunteer with the Munson Park & Recreation Board and served as its chairman in 2012. He was a U.S. Coast Guard veteran.

Bob passed away unexpectedly July 12 at the age of 69. A gentleman and a scholar, he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Free Concert

The Munson Township Park & Recreation Board extends an open invitation to its next free Concert in the Park, featuring the popular Sunset Country Band July 20, rain or shine, from 6-9 p.m., at the Scenic River Retreat. Bring lawn chairs and insect repellent. Refreshments will be sold.

Proceeds benefit the Park & Recreation Board’s various events throughout the year.

Bass Lake Moon Canoe

Adults with canoeing experience accompanied by one 10- to 12-year-old are invited to a Full Moon Canoe experience July 21 from 8-9:30 p.m. on beautiful Bass Lake in Munson. Meet at the boat launch at Bass Lake Preserve and enjoy the moon as it rises over the lake and hear the beaver, owls and other wildlife as they waken at day’s end.

At the Senior Center

The St. Helen Dance Ensemble, composed of students ages 5 to teenagers, will present a performance of original choreography set to a variety of music at 12:45 p.m. July 23 at the Chardon Senior Center, 12555 Ravenwood Drive in Munson. There may be some audience participation involved. Registration is not necessary.

Munson’s Community Day

Julie Johnston, Munson’s office assistant and community day coordinator, is seeking volunteers to help at the event scheduled for Aug. 3, rain or shine, from 3-8 p.m. at Munson Park on Bass Lake Road.

Volunteers are needed to help with setup the evening before and all day and evening on Aug. 3. Donations for the Chinese raffle and auction are still being accepted. Proceeds benefit the Munson Scholarship Fund. To help, call Julie at 440-286-9255.

NDCL Golf Classic

Registrations are available for the Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin Golf Classic taking place Aug. 5 at Little Mountain Country Club in Concord. Starting time is 9 a.m.

There will be a barbecue lunch by Winking Lizard Tavern, skins, games and other raffles.

With the Arts

Area artists of all genres are invited to enter the Chesterland Apple Festival’s Juried Arts and Crafts Show on Sept. 7. Only 50 artists will be accepted for this successful annual event.
