Congratulations
Ed Babcock, owner of Junction Auto Sales in Munson, will be the Geauga County Maple Festival’s parade marshal. The parade begins at 3 p.m. April 27. Accompanying Mr. Babcock will be Munson Elementary School students Mac Douglass and Loris Jensen, who were recently crowned as prince and princess of the maple festival.
The Geauga County Maple Festival takes place April 25-28 on Chardon Square.
Park & Recreation Board Openings
Munson Township residents are needed to voluntarily serve on the township’s Park and Recreation Board. The board meets once a month and oversees the maintenance of the township’s parks and coordinates various community events throughout the year.
If interested, mail a resume along with a letter of intent no later than April 23 to the Munson Board of Trustees, 12210 Auburn Road, Chardon, OH, 44024 or drop off at the township hall. Hours are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., weekdays.

Volunteers Needed
WomenSafe Resale Shoppe, located in the Drug Mart Plaza in Chesterland at 12061 Chillicothe Road, is seeking volunteers to help at the store, especially on Saturdays. Men, women and youth will be welcome to apply for a very good cause.
Proceeds from the store benefit the services offered by WomenSafe’s Green House in Munson.

With The Arts
The Geauga Park District invites everyone to meet award winning artists Betty Rowley and Brian Payne at the opening of their display of nature inspired watercolor paintings on April 14, from 2-4 p.m., at the West Woods Nature Center, 9465 Kinsman Road in Russell. Refreshments served. The show continues through June 3.
At The Senior Center
The Grief Support Group will meet at 12:30 p.m. April 15 at the Chardon Senior Center, 12555 Ravenwood Drive in Munson. Anyone dealing with a past or a recent loss is welcome to join this group for support and companionship.
Also at the Chardon Senior Center, the Parkinson’s Support Group will hold another fun dance session with Fred and Diane Discenzo on April 16 at 10:30 a.m.
Registration is not required for either event.
Frack Free Geauga Meeting
Frack Free Geauga will meet April 16, from 7-9 p.m., at Munson Township Hall, 12210 Auburn Road. Guest speakers will be Tish O’Dell of Community Environmental Defense League and Kari Matsko of People’s Oil and Gas Collaborative.
The Frack Free Geauga group is composed of local citizens concerned about the advance of shale drilling development. The meeting is open to the public.
Dog Shelter Fundraiser
The Totally Dogs 4-H Club and Geauga County Recorder Sharon Gingerich will hold a dinner and silent auction April 19, from 6-9 p.m., at Chardon United Methodist Church, 515 North St.
Advance sales only. Cost is $20 for chicken and $25 for salmon.
Proceeds benefit the Geauga County Dog Shelter, WAGS for Warriors, and the Geauga Sheriff’s K-9 Unit. Donations of dog food and dog toys will be appreciated.
