Congratulations
Munson resident Alex Toth was honored with his capstone art experience featured at Ashland University’s Coburn Gallery Senior Art Exhibition. He is majoring in fine arts with a concentration in digital art and a minor in mathematics. Alex, the son of Bert and Claudia Toth, is a 2008 graduate of Chardon High School.
With the Arts
The Geauga Soil & Water Conservation District’s (GSWCD) Annual Rain Barrel Yard Art auction is now in progress with decorated barrels on display in several locations throughout Geauga County. Barrels are available for bidding.
Munson resident Mary Samide, well known for her beautiful artwork, has a barrel on display during August at Sage’s Apples Fruit &?Vegetable Farm Market and during September at Bainbridge Town Hall.

Free Sunday Dinner
St. Luke Episcopal Church, 11519 Wilson Mills Road, Munson, will host a free Sunday dinner Sept. 1, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., in the Fellowship Room. There will be a choice of soups, breads, and desserts.
Donations are appreciated, but not necessary. To help prepare or serve the dinner, or for more information, call 440-285-4641.
Shutterbugs Camera Club
The next meeting of the Shutterbugs Camera Club will be held from 7-9 p.m. Sept. 5 at the Geauga Park District’s West Woods Nature Center. All levels of photography buffs are welcome.
Membership varies from school-age to senior citizen. Monthly meetings are free and offer an instructional program and critique.

Geauga Genealogical Society
“Doing Genealogy With DNA” is the topic of an interesting presentation by Richard Spector at the next meeting of the Geauga County Genealogical Society (GCGS). The group will meet at 7 p.m. Sept. 10 at the Chardon Library.
Spector will help explain the different sorts of DNA tests available and are useful in answering a particular question. He is the current trustee and former president of the Cleveland Jewish Genealogy Society.

The Mapletown Squares will start its dance year at 8 p.m. Sept. 12 at the Chardon Senior Center, 12555 Ravenwood Drive in Munson. Ken Campbell will call squares and Charlie Brown will call rounds.

Munson Twp. Flea Market
Pre-registration assigned by the township will be on a first-come, first-served basis for Munson Township’s Flea Market taking place Sept. 14, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Each rental space is 10-by-15-feet and costs $15. Fee is due on or before Sept. 6; no refunds after fee is paid. Setup time is from 7:30-9 a.m. and no pack-up before 2 p.m. Entry forms are available at the township office.

Save the Date
Reservations are being accepted for WomenSafe’s Fall Luncheon Sept. 29, from noon to 3:30 p.m., at the Pine Ridge Country Club, 30605 Ridge Road in Wickliffe. The Western Reserve Historical Society will present a visual showcase of shopping in downtown Cleveland, “The Golden Age of Shopping in Cleveland.”
There will be a brunch catered by Dino’s as well as a Chinese auction. Valet parking will be provided.
Tickets are $39 per person; sponsorships are available. Since space is limited, reservations should be made as soon as possible by calling 440-286-7154, ext. 248 or visiting events@womensafe.org.
Proceeds benefit the accomm-odations and services offered to victims of domestic violence at WomenSafe’s The Green House in Munson.
