Mental Health Association Board of Directors
The Mental Health Association of Geauga County is recruiting members for its board of directors. The group meets the second Wednesday of each month at the association’s offices, 11850 Mayfield Road, Unit 1, Munson.

Volunteers Needed
The Geauga Council for Arts & Culture (GCAC) is seeking volunteers to help with its various events throughout 2013. Tentative projects are an Art Walk in Chardon, Art in the Garden, the GCAC’s summer Art Show, Art in the Mart and other artistic events.

At the Senior Center
All Geauga County senior centers will be closed Dec. 31 except the Chardon Senior Center, which will host a New Year’s Eve celebration, from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., The event is co-sponsored by the Geauga County Department on Aging and Chardon Healthcare.
For information and possible last minute reservations for the catered dinner, call 440-632-0611. The senior center is located at 12555 Ravenwood Drive, Munson.

At The Rookery
Geauga Park District’s senior naturalist, Dan Best, will lead an outdoor exploration, “Finding Life in the Dead of Winter,” on Jan. 5, from 3-4:30 p.m., at the Rookery, 10110 Cedar Road, Munson. An indoor presentation in the Great Blue Heron Lodge precedes the outdoor exploration for sights and signs of winter active wildlife.
Children must be accompanied by an adult. Dress for the weather. Registration is not required.

Free Sunday Dinner
St. Luke Episcopal Church, 11519 Wilson Mills Road, Munson, will offer a free Sunday homemade dinner, Jan. 6, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., in the Fellowship Room. There will be a choice of soups, breads, and desserts.
Donations are not necessary but appreciated. To help prepare or serve the dinner, call 440-285-4641.
With the Genealogical Society
The Geauga County Genealogical Society (GCGS) will meet at 7 p.m. Jan. 8 at the Chardon Library on Chardon Square. Following a short business meeting, guest speakers Janice Studly and Timothy Ward will present a program on the history of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) and the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR). Ms. Studly and Mr. Ward are members of the DAR and SAR, respectively.

With the Arts
Entries for the Geauga Park District’s “DiscArted Art Show” Recycled Art Exhibition will be accepted from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Jan. 10 and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Jan. 11 at the West Woods Nature Center in Russell Township.
There will be an opening reception to meet the artists from 7-9 p.m. Jan. 19 and artwork will be on display through March 31. Guideline entry forms are available at the Nature Center or by contacting Teresa Runion, special events coordinator, 440-279-0882.
NDCL Family Ski Trip
Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin physical education teacher Robert McBrayer, in collaboration with Little Mountain, Ltd., offers NDCL families a ski/snowboard trip Feb. 23 to Peek-n-Peek Resort. The bus will leave at 7:30 a.m. from Little Mountain, Ltd. and depart at 5:30 p.m. from Peek-n-Peek.
Cost is $60 per person for bus and lift ticket and an additional $10 for equipment rental, if needed. Reservations are limited and must be made through Little Mountain Ltd., located in Points East Shopping Center, 7333 Mentor Ave.
