Munson Twp. Fire Department
The fire department, under the direction of Assistant Fire Chief Michael Vatty, recently rescued a 14-year-old girl who fell into a deep ravine at Notre Dame School while exploring the woods with friends. Specialty items necessary for this heroic rescue were previously donated to the fire department by Fairmount Minerals, based in Munson.
The community is fortunate to have one of the best, if not the very best, fire departments in Geauga County, now under the direction of Fire Chief Mark Lynn.
Summer Camps in Munson
Registration is still open to enroll youngsters in summer day camp programs:
Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin, 13000 Auburn Road, Munson, offers summer camps for students entering grades 3-9, with one-week sessions over six weeks beginning June 10. Visit the Summer Camp website or call 440-286-6226 for more information.
The Geauga Family YMCA will hold a Summer Sports Day Camp for ages 6-12, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, for one-week sessions at the “Y,” 12460 Bass Lake Road, Munson. For rates and starting dates, call Mike Dutton, 440-285-7543.
The Geauga Park District offers an Adventure Day Camp at Walter C. Best Wildlife Preserve, 11620 Ravenna Road, Munson, for two age groups, 10-12 and 13-15. The camp begins mid-June with weeklong sessions through mid-August. For more information, visit www.geauga

At the Senior Center
Two meetings for seniors will be held at the Chardon Senior Center, 12555 Ravenwood Drive, Munson: On June 10 at 11 a.m., meet the staff of the Geauga County Department on Aging; June 11 at 10 a.m., meet the staff of Geauga County Adult Protective Services.
Both meetings offer information on the help and assistance offered to seniors by these agencies. There will be time for questions at both meetings. Registration is not necessary.
Tri-County Coin Club
The Tri-County Coin Club meets at 7:30 p.m. June 13 at St. Luke Episcopal Church, 11519 Wilson Mills Road, Munson. There will be a 50-plus lot coin auction, coin displays, 50-50 drawing and more. At Walter C. Best Preserve
Bring one’s favorite non-aggressive dog for a guided pup-friendly walk on June 15 from 10-11:30 a.m. at the Geauga Park District’s Walter C. Best Wildlife Preserve, 11620 Ravenna Road, Munson. Geauga Family First Council Meeting
The Geauga Family First Council (GFFC) will meet at 2 p.m. June 17 at the Geauga Board of Mental Health, 13244 Ravenna Road, Munson. The monthly meetings, which are open to the public, offer support, understanding and help with family problems as offered by various Geauga County agencies.

NAMI Speaker Meeting
NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) of Geauga County and NAMI of Lake County will co-host a special speakers meeting at the West Woods Nature Center at 6:30 p.m. June 20, with Dr. Frederick J. Frese, Ph.D., psychologist, and Dr. Penelope Frese, past president of the Summit County Mental Health Association.
