Volunteers Needed
The WomenSafe Resale Shoppe located in the Drug Mart Plaza in Chesterland is seeking volunteers to help at the store, especially on Saturdays. Stop in the store to fill out an application.
Donations of good used clothing and household items are also needed. Proceeds benefit the shelter and services of WomenSafe’s Green House on Ravenna Road.

Adolescent Drug And Alcohol Programs Offered
Programs and treatment are offered to adolescents with first-time drug or alcohol charges at the Ravenwood Mental Health Center, 12557 Ravenwood Drive, Munson. An Outpatient Treatment Program is offered for adolescents with diagnosed addiction to substances Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30-7 p.m.

At the Senior Center
Jake Kouwe and his Chardon Polka Band will entertain seniors March 27 at 12:45 p.m. at the Chardon Senior Center, 12555 Ravenwood Drive in Munson. Come and enjoy the music of these talented performers.
Also at the Chardon Senior Center, Bob Debevits, of the Department on Aging’s Chore and Maintenance program, will present his annual Home Safety Talk at 12:30 p.m. March 28. He will be joined by Ken Smith, an animal control specialist for many years in Geauga County, who will speak on how to prevent animal nuisance in and around the home.
Reservations are not necessary for either event.
Munson’s Easter Egg Hunt
Join the fun of the Munson Park & Recreation Board’s annual Easter egg hunt March 30, rain or shine, at Munson Park on Bass Lake Road. The Easter bunny will be there at 10 a.m. and the hunt will start at 10:30 a.m.

Downtown Abbey Fashions
Fans of TV’s “Downtown Abbey” will enjoy a presentation of “Downtown Abbey Fashions” at the Chardon Library March 25 at 7 p.m. Deanna Burritt-Peiffer of Kent State University’s Theater and Fashion Department will speak on the fashions of the Edwardian Period.

Dog Shelter Fundraiser
A fundraiser for the Geauga County Dog Shelter, hosted by the volunteers and staff of the shelter, will be held April 14, from 5:30-7:30 p.m., at the Chagrin Falls Roller Rink, 7157 Main St. in Chagrin Falls.
Donation is $10 per person plus $4 skate rental. Proceeds benefit the shelter.

Fracking and Injection Wells
Munson Township will hold a seminar on the potential health and environmental impacts of fracking and injection wells at 7 p.m. April 4 at the Notre Dame Elementary School cafeteria, 13000 Auburn Road in Munson.
Guest speakers include Melanie Houston, MS, of the Ohio Environmental Council; Bernard Goldstein, MD, professor and chair of the School of Public Health, University of Pittsburgh; and Jeffrey C. Dick, Ph.D., director, Natural Gas and Water Resources Institute, Youngstown State University.
The event is free and open to the public. Refreshments served.
Women’s Retreat Day
The Sisters of Notre Dame invite women of all ages to “A Women’s Retreat Day” April 16, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Notre Dame Educational Center, 13000 Auburn Road Munson. Sister Melanie Svoboda will present “Finding God in Poetry, Short Stories and Movies” in which she will explore some of the major themes of life.

Congressional Art Competition
Rep. David Joyce (R-Russell) invites area high school students to submit their artwork for judging in the Congressional Art Competition to be held later this year. The winning entry will hang in the U.S. Capitol for a year.
Artwork can be dropped off no later than May 2 at Victoria Place in Painesville or the Twinsburg Government Center, 10075 Ravenna Road. Visit joyce.house.gov to fill out necessary paperwork.
