Girl Dies In Crash With Cement Truck
A 16-year-Madison Township girl was killed Tuesday when her 2002 Chevy Cavalier was struck by a cement truck at the intersection of state Route 528 and Moseley Road in Thompson Township.
Amanda L. Kamposek was driving eastbound on Moseley Road at about 8:12 a.m. when she failed to yeild for a stop sign on Moseley, said Lt. Mark Neff of the Chardon post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Brian E. Shank, 61, of Painesville, who was driving southbound on Route 528 in a 1999 Mack cement truck, struck her car broadside, Neff said.
Both vehicles came to rest on the east side of Route 528, just south of Moseley, forcing both roads to be closed to traffic for several hours, the lieutenant said.
Kamopsek was killed on impact and the Geauga County Coroner’s Office pronounced her dead on scene, Neff said. She was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
Shank was transported to Madison Hospital by a Thompson Township rescue squad with non-life threatening injuries. He was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the accident, Neff said.
Alcohol is not a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
