Good Deeds Program in Chester
Geauga County Recorder Sharon Gingerich, Geauga County Probate and Juvenile Court Judge Tim Grendell and the Geauga County Bar Association will be hosting a series of meetings regarding the Good Deeds Program on June 18, June 20 and June 25 at the Chester Town Hall, 12701 Chillicothe Road.
All three meetings will begin at 7 p.m. and are free and open to the public.
The Good Deeds Program is a volunteer deed review process for Geauga County homeowners. It is a countywide effort to help Geauga residents (1) identify whether the form of their present deed will require transfer through the probate court upon death and (2) consider less expensive and less time-consuming alternatives to a probate transfer.
St. Helen Crosses Vandalized
Vandals knocked over 144 crosses on display on the lawn of St. Helen Church in Newbury Township sometime either late Monday or early Tuesday morning, church officials said.
Some of the crosses were destroyed, while a pro-life banner was also slit.
A maintenance man contacted church officials at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday and told them about the situation.
The Geauga County Sheriff’s Office has been in contact with the church, said Lt. John Hiscox, public information officer for the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office, Tuesday morning.
Anyone with more information is urged to contact the sheriff’s office at 440-279-2009.
