WG Schools Awarded For Excellent Financial Reporting
The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada recently awarded West Geauga Schools with the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for its comprehensive annuall financial report.

The certificate of achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of gove-rnmental accoun-ting and financial reporting, said Stephen Gauthier, spokesman for the GFOA, in a statement.
“Its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management,”?he said.
Fire at Rubber Plant Destroys Storage Items
A fire at the former Middlefield Johnson Rubber plant Monday morning could have been a lot worse, said Middlefield Fire Chief William Reed.
The fire call was dispatched at 7:50 a.m. through the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office, said Middlefield Fire Captain Tony Yeropoli.
Department trucks were at the scene by 7:55 a.m., followed shortly by departments from Burton, Parkman, Mesopotamia, Troy, Hambden, Windsor, Newbury, Auburn and Chardon, he said.
The fire was under control within 45 minutes, Yeropoli said, adding damage to the building included a 20-foot-by-20-foot hole in the roof and a hole in the wall where firefighters entered.
Items stored at the warehouse were destroyed by the fire, he said.
Reed said the boxes, which apparently caught fire because they were too close to a heater, contained items packaged by Flambeau that were to be shipped.
The complex of warehouses is enormous and getting the fire put out quickly saved the buildings from more serious damage, Reed said.
